Biological effects induced by doses of mammographic screening

چکیده
PurposeMammography is the diagnostic imaging practice used in screening to detect early lesions suspected of malignancy. It uses a low energy X-ray beam which dose order 2–3 mGy delivered patient breast cells. However, it has been speculated that could lead significant cell damage, when compared conventional X-ray. We investigated biological effects doses, with mean glandular doses (MGDs) 2.5 and + mGy, on mammary cells vitro.MethodsWe non-tumorigenic line (MCF-10A) two tumor lines (MCF-7 MDA-MB-231). Colony formation, apoptosis, double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs) were quantified.ResultsThe selected MGD regimens did not alter formation colonies by any lines. MCF-7 exhibited markedly increase 24 h after single-dose protocol; MCF-10A underwent apoptosis only 72 h, both irradiation regimens, while MDA-MB-231 (highly invasive metastatic) susceptible apoptosis. The detection γH2AX histone nuclei irradiated showed double-dose resulted DSBs, especially lines.ConclusionsAlthough health benefits remain indisputable, our future perspective better understand basis for radiation investigate if under what conditions there would be risky situation repeated mammography screening, asymptomatic symptomatic women.

Biological Effects of Small Radiation Doses
To establish the maximum permissible radiation doses for occupational and other kinds of radiation exposure, it is necessary to know those biological effects which can be produced by very small radiation doses. This particular field of radiation biology has not yet been sufficiently explored. This holds true for possible delayed damage after occupational radiation exposure over a period of many...

PURPOSE To assess a schema for estimating the risk of radiation-induced breast cancer following exposure of the breast to ionizing radiation as would occur with mammography and to provide data that can be used to estimate the potential number of breast cancers, cancer deaths, and woman-years of life lost attributable to radiation exposure delivered according to a variety of screening scenarios....

Fractions obtained from partitioning of aerial methanolic extract of Euphorbia Aellenii with chloroform (E2), ethyl acetate (E3), n-butanol (E4) and water (E5) were investigated in vitro for their phytotoxicity, insecticidal, anti-leishmanial, cytotoxicity, antibacterial and antifungal activities. Sample E2 appeared to have significant phytotoxic activity. In the insecticidal screening study o...
